What is EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is a specialized approach that helps people heal from distressing experiences, painful memories, and overwhelming emotions.

Sometimes, difficult experiences can feel “stuck” in the brain and continue to affect how we feel, think, and respond in the present. EMDR helps the brain process these experiences in a healthier way, reducing the emotional intensity connected to them.

Is EMDR right for me ?

EMDR is not about forgetting the past—it is about helping your past experiences feel less overwhelming so they no longer control your present. Many people find that EMDR helps them feel calmer, more confident, and more connected to themselves.

If you are curious whether EMDR may be a good fit for you, we invite you to reach out and schedule a consultation.

What happens during EMDR ?

EMDR therapy involves talking with your therapist about what you would like to work through while using guided techniques that support your brain’s natural healing process. One common technique involves bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, tapping, or sounds that alternate from side to side.

You do not have to share every detail of a painful experience for EMDR to be effective. Your therapist will work with you at your own pace and help you feel safe and supported throughout the process.

  • Trauma and PTSD
